I have been trying to update my graphics card driver. I downloaded the driver from nvidia.com but the installatins wizard says after a while "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. setup will now exit" I need to update my driver because i have a game that uses OpenGl and it says i have no driver that is compatible with OpenGl 1.2.
Win XP Pro
nVidia GeForce2 GTS/Pro

First possibility is that u downloaded a wrong driver.
Anyway, do u have an onboard graphics as well as ur nVidia? If so, make sure it is disabled in the BIOS.

well, the nVidia site (http://nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) does not give much options so i guess the same driver must work for several cards.
where can i check if i have an onboard graphics driver?

Check it in the BIOS. Somewhere under the name of Peripheral devices, perhaps next to onboard sound card.
& also make sure u have latest drivers for ur motherboard, called Chipset drivers or Motherboard drivers.

Hi,
Go HERE and download from mirror site1 to your desktop, then double click on the icon and install it via the wizard. it does work because I have tested it.

the driver installation was the same as last time, it didn't work.
i didn't find any graphics stuff in BIOS.
maybe i am just being stupid or i don't have any graphics card

It's ok. Not all motherboards have onboard graphics. Update ur mobo drivers then try nvidia one again & if it did not work, perhaps ur model has no updates.

i finally found a driver on the ASUS site. What should i do to the .zip file after unzipping it? I think it's not important because it is just a audio driver dating 2002 or something. Theres nothing on the site that would tell me what to do with the file. Maybe i should just give up and admit my mobo (and the whole PC) is too old.

what is the file format?, usually standard.exe's can just be double clicked however in your case it may require a cmd prompt , etc..
It's a folder witch contains several files. There are two .exe files: Mixer.exe opens volume control and CMUninst.exe does nothing. The file name seems like it would be something for unistalling.

I give up. It's nothing like a motherboard chipset driver.

hey QuQ is
THIS the driver your trying to install for you video card. If it is, you should be having any problems.
I just installed it on a fresh PC with a GeForce 5200 FX and it worked fine.
You may want to try it. just a thought.

Once i had an ATI card which the installer never detected. I finally forced windows install the driver i thought is correct & it worked.
Does ur driver consist of a folder & some files & an EXE file? Or it's only an EXE file?

sorry bob, check the wrong link
Hi, the file is just a .exe file. Maybe i should tell you that the installing wizard starts properly then it asks if i want to overwrite some files that already exit. I answer yes. The bar goes to the end. Then it goes fullscreen and says it didn't find any drivers...

Have you tried unistalling the first drivers through Add/Remove programs => restart => then try reinstalling
