The forum which I helped to set up for Patricia is hosted at board-host.org which keeps going down all the time. Now that the domain and host was put up for sale it looks like we have to find a web host. (see this topic)

Ali, or anyone else know of a cheep UK host which is reliable, fast, supports phpbb2, with ftp access, free domain name included?

Looking at http://www.phpbb.com/ I found a link to http://www.canaca.com/ but it’s in Canada, it’s not UK but would this be safe to go for this?

Also would it be easy to transfer? (download and upload via ftp) or do I have to start again?

1and1.co.uk are currently i think the most well established, and u can get a great pakage for 8 .99 a month however 100webspace.com has php u can use phpbb forum on any free package or any package with these minimum requriments:



1 sql database
php 3.0 or above installed
apache server ( i think )

100 web space kinda sucks. lots of downtime, my friend used it once.

1&1 is really good, but people say it has bad tech support.

canaca, the hosting company in ontario canada, it ahs a bad reputation on downtime and bad tech support. some people say its fixed, but lets not take chances.

i personally think a small orange web hosting is good. i have a coupon too not tried yet

Just to let you know, we went for BlueHost in the end.

How much was it? I would have suggested Portland.co.uk ... too late now i guess.
