I'm gonna upgrade to VB.Net. Just want to know if applications written in VB.net language work in non dotNet frameworks as long as they don't use dotNet features. For example a simple Address book program written in VB dotNet. Does it work in Win98?
I don't know much about dotNet.
Thanx

Unfortunately not. All applications written in VB.NET require the .NET framework to be installed on the user's system. Even the .msi installer that comes with VB .NET needs the framework to run.
Also, most of the applications I ported from VB 6 to VB .NET weren't successful and required that most of the code be rewritten. :/

As .Net framework is installed by default only in 2003 server & it's not going to be included in XP SP2, so all applications that are to be used by simple home users must be written in classic versions?

Yeah, that's what I do. The framework is a 20MB download, so for most of my own applications, I still use VB 6 with a third party .msi installer.
