Smash Bros. Goes Platinum
Two weeks to a million overseas.

February 12, 2008 - With over 800,000 units sold in its first week of availability in Japan, it was a given that Smash Bros. Brawl would cross the million sold mark faster than any Wii game before it. Sure enough, the game managed just that, as Famitsu.com, citing sales data from its publisher Enterbrain, reports today that Brawl sales reached the 1,082,344 mark on the 10th.

The platinum figure comes two weeks after the game's release. In comparison, Wii Fit took seven weeks to reach the million mark. Wii Sports, which is sold separately from the console in Japan, took eleven weeks.

Even more impressive, Smash Bros. Brawl has been somewhat of a tough find, with some reports claiming 90% depletion of stock. Looks like Nintendo may have another fixture in the weekly top ten charts.
